In order to satisfy ACRO requirements , your application must be endorsed by an individual employed as one of the following or similar professions. Your endorser cannot be your partner or a family member (no matter how distantly related), must have known you for a minimum of two years, and must be eighteen years of age or older. Proof of your current address – You must provide ONE proof of your current address from the ‘Proof of current address’ list at the end of the application form. Your current address is where you live now and can be outside of the UK.
Any proof of address that is not in English must be translated into English.
The UK driving licence paper counterpart is notan acceptable proof of address, even if it shows your current address. A recent passport style colour photograph – You must upload one high quality, recent passport style colour photograph that clearly identifies you (the applicant). This photograph will be included on your Police Certificate.

Offer of employment, registration or contract from the requesting organisation- You must provide a copy of the document from the organisation asking you to obtain an ICPC. This document must be personal to you. Therefore, please bear this in mind when making your application, or booking your flights. We will process your request and send your ICPC to the postal address shown on your application form and confirmed by your proofs of address, or to the alternative delivery address specified on your application.
For this reason we recommend that you check with your endorser that they are happy for you to put their name and contact details on your application.

There is a list of acceptable occupations for endorsers on the ACRO website. ACRO will only accept version or higher of the Police Certificate application form.
All previous versions will be rejected and ACRO will require a new form to be submitted before an application can be processed. Photograph Endorsement. The list of acceptable professions for a prospective endorser seems arbitrary, especially considering that all they are supposed to do, in this case, seems to be just to be able to tell whether I am the one in the picture or not. For other countries – the police can make checks of what is held on their computer systems about individuals and it is known as a subject access request. The police check will either provide a certificate stating that there is currently no information held about you on the police computer systems or it will.
This is not a criminal records check. Please send the required items of documentation to the appropriate address: If sending your application to ACRO by a courier service, your chosen courier company must arrange for the application to be delivered to the above address. National Insurance and Driving Licence numbers – only if applicable. Giving these numbers will make it easier to track you on the system. There is only one level of ACRO police certificate and the application fee is currently £per.
Payment and Turnaround Times. They are the most internationally recognised by employers for legalisation purposes. These are acceptable for all job roles and sectors. If your police certificate states “No Live Trace”, you’ll have to provide documentary evidence of your “stepped down” convictions (that is, the convictions not showing on your Police Certificate). The validity of the Police Certificate is at the discretion of the relevant Embassy or High Commission.
You can get this information by contacting ACRO directly. Once complete your police certificate will be mailed directly to you. ACRO will not pay for enhanced post or International Courier delivery. Please note that re-issued Police Certificates will show the original date of production, not the re-issue date.
You may wish to check that this will be accepted by the embassy, high commission, consulate or other authority before contacting ACRO. P olice Clearance Certificates are official documents that show whether or not you have a criminal record. The name used can vary from country to country. Some common names include Good Conduct Certificate, Criminal Background Check and National Police History Check. I was found Not Guilty after trial.
I have never been convicted. To endorse a check , sign your name on the back, and include any additional details required to process the check correctly. A signature is usually all that’s neede but additional steps help you control how the payment is handled and protect your from fraud. As an FYI an ACRO costs almost twice what a DBS does, it also requires an endorser , bank statements,photo.
DBS can be all done online and verifies your ID via Equifax so was an easier option.
