If you have already lodged a permanent parent visa application, you may visit Australia, but not remain in Australia permanently while the application is being decided. You will not have the right to permanent residence. This is a temporary visa only. You cannot apply for a permanent parent visa when you have this visa.

If your parent is currently in the United States, he or she may be eligible to file Form I-48 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, at the same time as you file. Keep in mind that you can only apply for this type of visa if your child is a dependent UK resident under 18.
