I’ve only ever been to Hobart, but here’s my perspective. Rent and housing is much cheaper than the mainland. Summers are milder than the mainlan the highest recorded temperature in Hobart was about 42C, compared to its closest mainl. We came home from that weekend keen to move but trying not to get too excited. It could take forever to find a job, sell the house etc etc.

The next month Josh had a job.

So much to do, so much nightlife, so much easier to get jobs, so many more people to make friends with, etc etc. Learn from real Tasmanians. Stunning reserves, national parks and World Heritage sites take up over a third of the land. If you’re worried about renting for the rest of your life, moving to Hobart could make your dreams of becoming a home-owner come true. In fact, a study has shown the price of one house in Sydney could get you two in Hobart.

After all, why would I spend so much time on Quora if it was interesting? We have moved to Tassie! My husband Dale and I are both born and bred Tasmanians.
